1. Scope

This Privacy Policy applies to your use of the Boki mobile application and the in-app features currently available in the codebase, including image import, local editing, history, templates, filters, exports, optional consumable in-app purchases, and in-app legal page viewing.

Privacy Summary

Based on the current implementation, Boki primarily processes your editing content on your device and stores settings and creative records locally unless you deliberately share exported content through another service or app.

2. Information We Access

Boki may access or process the following categories of information:

  • Images that you choose from your photo library, files, or camera for editing.
  • Locally stored app data such as settings, history records, templates, filter recipes, image previews, and imported working assets saved in app storage.
  • Purchase-related information supplied by Apple when you make or restore optional in-app purchases.
  • Permission choices and system responses related to camera access, photo library access, and the App Tracking Transparency prompt on supported iOS versions.
  • Basic technical request data handled by Apple or another endpoint when the app connects to network resources, such as IP address, device metadata, and request logs that may be processed by the receiving service.

3. How Information Is Used

Boki uses information only as needed to operate the app experience you request. This includes:

  • Importing, rendering, cropping, filtering, previewing, and exporting your images.
  • Saving your preferences, history, templates, and filter recipes locally on your device.
  • Processing optional coin-pack purchases and restoring eligible purchase records through Apple services.
  • Opening legal or support pages inside the app when a remote page URL is configured.
  • Completing the current startup flow, which includes a lightweight network request and the resolution of the App Tracking Transparency prompt on supported iOS versions.

4. Local Storage and On-Device Processing

The current version of Boki is built around on-device editing. Imported images, generated previews, history items, templates, settings, and filter recipes may be written to app-local storage such as Application Support, Core Data, temporary files, and system preferences on your device.

Exported images are saved to your photo library or prepared in temporary files for the iOS share sheet, depending on the export option you choose. Temporary share files may remain on the device until iOS clears them or they are overwritten.

5. Network Activity and External Services

Although Boki is primarily local-first, the current implementation may still connect to external services in limited situations:

  • Apple StoreKit services for optional in-app purchases and purchase restoration.
  • A lightweight startup request to apple.com used by the current launch flow.
  • Remote legal or support pages if in-app web content is configured to load a remote URL.
  • Any destination you choose through the iOS share sheet or another app after export.

Boki does not need you to create a Boki account to use the current app. However, when Apple or another third party processes a network request, that third party may handle technical data under its own policies.

6. Tracking and Advertising

On supported iOS versions, the current startup flow may display the App Tracking Transparency prompt. Based on the current implementation, your choice on that prompt does not block access to the app's local editing features once the prompt has been resolved.

As of this version, Boki does not require you to create an advertising profile to use the app, and the app's local image-editing functions do not depend on cross-app behavioral advertising. Boki does not sell your personal information.

7. Sharing and Disclosure

Boki does not operate a built-in social feed or mandatory cloud publishing flow in the current implementation. Your content may be disclosed only in the following limited circumstances:

  • When you intentionally export or share content through the iOS share sheet or another third-party app or service.
  • When Apple processes in-app purchases, purchase restoration, permission dialogs, or other operating-system services.
  • When disclosure is required to comply with applicable law, valid legal process, or enforceable government request.
  • When disclosure is reasonably necessary to protect rights, safety, security, or prevent fraud or abuse.

8. Data Retention

Local app data generally remains on your device until you remove it, overwrite it, clear certain in-app records, or delete the app and its data. Purchase records and transaction information may be retained by Apple in accordance with Apple's own rules and legal obligations.

9. Your Choices

  • You may choose whether to import from the photo library, files, or camera.
  • You may deny camera or photo library permissions, though some features will then be limited.
  • You may choose whether to save exports to the photo library or send them through the share sheet.
  • You may choose how to respond to the App Tracking Transparency prompt where it appears.
  • You may manage device-level permissions and photo access through iOS settings.

10. Children's Privacy

Boki is not directed to children under the age that requires verified parental consent under applicable law. If you believe a child provided information in a way that should not have occurred, please contact us so we can review the situation.

11. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect product changes, legal requirements, or operational updates. When we do, we will revise the effective date shown on this page. Your continued use of Boki after an update means you accept the revised policy to the extent permitted by law.
